Kate O’Donnell has been an editor since 2006, initially for HarperCollins Publishers Australia. In 2010 she became a freelancer, and now edits authors such as Jackie French, Judy Nunn and Jesse Blackadder. She works for HarperCollins Publishers, Random House Australia, Allen & Unwin, Simon & Schuster, Momentum Books, Magabala Books and Fremantle Press, as a manuscript assessor for the New South Wales Writers’ Centre. For several years Kate was also a mentor to emerging editors for Seizure Online‘s flash fiction program.

She offers thoughtful, precise and intuitive reader’s reports to uncontracted authors and full editorial services to self-publishing authors. In all projects she maximises the reader’s engagement with a story without trespassing on the writer’s intention.

Copy-writing enquiries are also welcome.

Kate is a member of the Freelance Editors’ Network. She has written for Seizure Online: mostly industry articles that are (she hopes) more funny than useful. Kate also works as a script editor, including for Audible Australia, and in marketing, pitch and grant-writing support in the theatre and film industries.
